ONE DAY I WILL WRITE ABOUT BEING SINGLE DURING A GLOBAL PANDEMIC.

I got a bike

For my birthday

Lime green

16 inch wheels

That fold

Kinda like a dress

with pockets

I ride around Queens

Proud.

I ran more than

40 miles

Since May

Legs tighter

Stomach lighter

Sweat consistent

Intimacy resistant

I got a new couch

Just because

The other didn’t age well

Mustard and my short legs

don’t fill up the

Horizontally wide cushions

and less comfortable

than the couch before

I took pictures

Because I followed

all the directions

I organized my closets

Bought clothes I

might not

ever wear

I got a new desk

White like my old life

So many shelves

I bought a snake plant

I named it Ross

Because Harriet

And I bought four more

But didn’t name them

I’ve had a dog since before

Death laid its blanket

All over New York City.

She’s a pretty baby.

I’ve followed all the recipes

Even made new ones

Had Thai food

One two many Fridays

And a post beach Monday

I have friends who tell me

I am gorgeous

And married men

Who leave heart eyed emoticons

under my pictures

Sending DMS and poems

after they post

How much they love their wife

And babies
